Bankhead, of Alabama, died here today after an illness of several weeks from grippe. Senator Bankhead was 77 years old and had been a member of the senate since 1907. He had been confined to hk3 bed for nearly a month. His condi tion had not been considered serious, however, and until today his -physicians had reported him steadily improving. im-proving.
