For the Park City boys lacrosse learn, a close 12-H loss to slate powerhouse Jordan High School in the waning seconds of (he game proved to be very encouraging for head coach Jeff Mlinger and his team. According to Mlinger, his team entered the season feeling that they could take on the stales toughest competition, and the Jordan game was their first real proof. "It was a real confidence builder." said Mlinger. 'lTic game was also the first one that the Miners had played on grass since competing in a tournament in Las Vegas weeks earlier. Subsequent games back in Utah were cancelled due lo weather conditions. "I was proud, as they had lo deal with extenuating and changing circumstances because of weather," said Munger. Miners" newcomer Brian Kadziel ami senior veteran Chris Bova led a strong defensive effort. Park City High School senior midfielder Mike Emerson performed well for the offense. The Miners now head into a 10day hiatus during spring break. Munger worries that the layoff comes at a time that the teams momentum is just beginning to build, so he has asked his team to take their lacrosse sticks with them on vacation. GO The Miners first game back after the break will come against Alia High School. Munger says that lie expects a tough game from a team that has won a state championship and is consistently strong and well coached. The Miners will have to bounce back from vacation quickly, he said. "We have two practices before Wednesday, so we'll have time to tune up," Munger said.
