Show MILEAGE IS REFUSED ROBERTS Washington, D. C, Feb. 1. On a tie vote in the committee of the house on mileage this afternoon the resolution paying ex-Congressman ex-Congressman Roberts his mileage was de- i clared defeated. It is not probable that the matter will ever receive favorable ac- tion in the house. As heretofore reported, ! however, there is a reasonable chance that late next session the house will pass a resolution giving: him the customary i contestee's fee of $2,000. Senator Shoup called on the secretary of war this afternoon and requested him to authorize the chief of ordnance to send ' two pieces of artillery and two cannon ball pyramids to the Soldiers' Home at i Boise City. The secretary said that the I matter would be investigated and, if pos. I i sibie, the request would be complied with. 1 I Senator Shoup has recommended Harry i C. Shelworth of Butte for a clerical posi- tion in the war department transport ser-I ser-I vice at San Francisco.- He has also rec-1 rec-1 ommonded F. G.
