Show t LEADVILLE : 4- (Correspondence Intermountain Catholic.) Leadville, Colo., Jan. SO. The C. R. and B. A. gave a card party on Friday evening, Jan. 25. at SodaHty Hall. A largeand jolly crowd was present, and all report having had an enjoyable time. Much credit is due the committee commit-tee having matters In charge, for. the admirable manner in which the games were arranged. The committee conr sifted of the following members of the society: Miss Ella A. O'Neill, Mrs. Winters Morrell, Miss Mary Parks, Messrs. J. B. Whalen and Edward Ro-gan. Ro-gan. The programme began promptly at 8 o'clock with a piano solo by Rev. George Saile, and one by Mrs. O'Melia. Much enthusiasm was manifested throughout the game?. Six games of progressive high five were played, and at the close the prizes were distributed to the following persons: Mr. Donovan secured the gentleman's prize, a beautiful beau-tiful edition of "Lalla Rookh;" Mrs. J. L. Canning was the delighted recipient of the ladies' prize, a silver and jrearl paper knife; Miss Nellie Murdock and Mr. Michael Murray were awarded the consolation prizes for their kindneo3 in not troubling the lady in chnrga io punch their cards. Miss Katie McC'arty entertained' the crowd with an instrumental instru-mental solo while refreshments were, being served. Those present weie pleased to learn that this is but the i initial party of a series to be given by this society In the future. Mc-Neece. On Friday evening, Jan. 26, the mem bers of the Children s LItirary Society of St. Mary's School met a: Sodality Hall. A special programme had been arranged, . and all taking part deserve much praise and are a credit to the school. ( The offertory selection, Millard's "Ave Maria," was admirably rendered at the High Mass Sunday by Mrs. Mc-Masters, Mc-Masters, of Denver. Mrs. J. W. Foley has returned from Pueblo, much impro ed in health. Her sweet voice is again heard in the choir. The many friends of Mrs. D. M. Rear-don, Rear-don, of East Sixth street, will be pained to learn that she is quite ill with rheumatism. rheu-matism. ?-- Miss Martha McGee, of Salt Lake City, is Etaying with her sister, Mrs. Bittenger. Mr. J. O'Neill, of the Continental Oil Company, spent a few days in Denver last week. This is examination week at St. Mary's School. Mr. J. J. Moynahan is spending some time in Chicago. At the last meeting of the C. K. and L. of A., nominations were made for delegate to represent this Branch at the Supreme Council meeting, to be held in Chicago in May. The candidates so far are: . A large number of the young friends of Master Reginald Jennings surprised him Saturday afternoon, Jan. 27, at the home of his parents on East Seventh street. The occasion was his Kii.h birthday. birth-day. The afternoon was pleasantly paased with games' and mu3ic, alter which a delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Jennings. Thomas Brady, a miner at the Mab mine, was injured last v.eck by a filing fil-ing rock. His ankle was caught ar.u the bone badly fractured. John O'Neill, the 12-year-old son of Mrs. Mary A. O'Neill, of East Fifth street, had his hand crushel at ine Leadville Miner office, while feeding the press. Amputation of the first two fingers was necessary. Miss Sadie Sullivan went to Denver last week, to enter a Business College. The funeral, of the late James Williams, Wil-liams, of East Third tr22t, took place from the Church of the Annunciation Wednesday morning, Jan.
