Show OGDEN CITY. Sacred Heart Alumnae Meeting and Marriage Announcement. On Saturday afternoon. Nov. 19, the alumnae of Sacred Heart academy enjoyed en-joyed a delightful reunion at the home of Miss Kiesel's sister, which was artistically ar-tistically decorated for the occasion. The Misses Kiesel and Scudder entertained en-tertained the society, adopting this as the most pleasing way of announcing the engagement of their classmate, Miss Vickery. to Mr. G. W. Anderson. Miss Kiesel and Miss Scudder proved themselves charming hostesses indeed. The early part of the afternoon was ttpeiit in amusing efforts by the young ladies to solve a number of original questions, entitled, "The Marriage of the Players." The most successful guesser in this game was Miss McGonagle, who received re-ceived a book of beautiful quotations. At the close of this most enjoyable afternoon a , delightful supper was served. In place of. the formal 'toasts usually usu-ally rendered, each guest was given paper and pencil,, and-requested to w rite two or more rhyming verses upon the winsome "bride to be." After the repast "Miss Kiesel read aloud the various good wishes and. as might be expected, many of the efforts were very clever and witty. Miss Alice Maguire's, however, won the heartiest applause and she bore off a very dainty prize. All the members entertained deep feelings of appreciation for the two charming hostesses and hope to respond in like manner on many a similar occasion. oc-casion. f Mrs. Jane Brennan died at the residence resi-dence of her daughter. Mrs. J. W. Mc-Kenna. Mc-Kenna. 926 Twenty-fourth street. The funeral was held Monday morning from St. Joseph's church. Ogden has its share of the general prosperity judging from th? excellent reports given in this issue by the six banks located here. Their statements are indicative of a great deal to those who take the time to peruse them and make comparisons with previous reports. re-ports. It is safe to say that the prosperity pros-perity of a town or city may be relatively rela-tively judged by the amount of money its inhabitants have on deposit in the banks. In individual deposits subject to check, demand certificates on deposit the people of Ogden have about $4,-000,000 $4,-000,000 in the local banks. This amount of money represents the deposits of thousands of people and while such an amount would not mean much for a millionaire, yet it showsthat the people peo-ple are living and putting by part of their wages for a rainy day. A prosperous "condition of the people means, of course, that the banks are in good condition. A total of their loans and discounts shows that they have j something like $2.ti47,034.57. This amount in connection with the amounts due the local banks from the national banks, makes the resources noticeably strong. All the banks here seem to have as much business as they can handle with the present force of employes. In fact, much night work has been done during ihe past month to keep up with the rush of business. f Mr. and Mip. Pat Healy, jr.. have been made happy by the advent of a ten-pound daughter. f Bertha Mary Brownson, aged 17 vears 7 months and IS days, died Monday at j Brigham City of pneumonia, after a 1 brief illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Brownson. The funeral took place at 9:"0 Tuesday morning from St. Joseph's church. The interment was in Mountain View cemetery. |
