Electric lights scintillated Irom the walls of the pretty litttle ' Chapel, .which was crowded with worshipers. wor-shipers. 1 lie devotees marched down the center cen-ter a!sle and around the Church in several pretty evolutions, under the leadership of Father Lepore. They were then grouped around the chancel while little 8-year-old Teresa Cempaig-lia, Cempaig-lia, standing on a footstool, reached up and placed the gold crown on the head of the Blessed Virgin. After the coronation, coro-nation, the children went through more exhibitions before laying their bouquets at the feet of the statue. Then came the sinking of an Italian melody, led by one of the children, Christina Cem-piglia, Cem-piglia, in which all the others joined. It was sung in the soft, modulated voices of these children of sunshine, who have not lost the low, sweet tones natural to them if they never have seen the skies of Italy. Verse after verse was sung ,and it was a petition i gentle and appealing, which might be paraphrased: "We kneel at your feet, dear mother, this evening, all your children, dearest madre; and will you please accept these gifts of our hearts, sweet mother. If our hearts are not as white as the lily, we are your children, chil-dren, remember, and you are our mother." After the service, which included a few words from Father Lepore and several sev-eral songs by the choir, the flowers were distributed to the congregation to keep in memory of the devotion until another year comes round. One June 17 Mt. Carmel church will "celebrate St. Anthony's day with an elaborate programme of music and floral decoration.
