Show PRESBYTERIAN NOTES The presbyterian school opened up Monday with an encouraging att ndance Miss Agnes Anderson of Berkeley, California is a new teacher taking charge of the primary room. Miss Kate B. Taylor, who was with us last year was taken down with typhoid fever just as school was about to open, to the general regret of the whole town. Mrs. Herrick of Green River formerly Miss La Venture and a teacher here for three years, has been sent for to take Miss Taylor's classes ' in the meantime. The new principal has not yet arrived but is daily expected. Rev. J. R. McGillivray, last year's principal, stayed as long as possible and taught each forenoon, but had to leave Thursday for his new field of labor in Idaho, with head quarters at Twin Falls. Miss M. Borkley will probably teach in the emergency until she leaves for her school in Wayne county about the first of October. Several High School students registered reg-istered and many more are expected. A thorough course, equal to the best given anywhere, will be afforded. It will be a few weeks yet before the school will move to the new building. Good progress is being made in the construction and splendid work has been done. Messrs. Snow and Wakefield, contractors con-tractors of the brick mason work finished finish-ed their labors about a week ago. Everybody speaks in the highest terms of the manner in which they have performed per-formed the work. That they are thoroughly competent and deserve great credit for this job is certain. Mr. William McKinzie, who is also contract or for the carpenter work, has been the architect and also superintendent of all the work, and deserves his share of any praise that may be going. When the building is finished, it will be time to speak more particularly of the credit due to him, and then there are others. But among those who have seen the building recently there seems to be but one opinion, and that is, that the building will be a credit to the county as well as the town, and it is hoped that that the best use will be made of it, for the ends for which it has been expected. Mr. John Behling went out on Castle Valley stage Thursday, bound for the Agricultural College at Logan. John is a. worthy fellow and will give a good account of himself. Mr. Jesse Conover goes Friday to the same institution, and will doubtless do credit to his former teachers. Mr. Lee Curtis went with his brother Guy Curits Thursday to take a course in the U. of U., Salt Lake City. Guy has been doing splendid in this institution institu-tion in the past, and we hope for similar things from Lee. Their friends in Ferron, and some no longer in Ferron, wish these ambitious young men the best success in prepar-j prepar-j ing for lives worth and trust they may j bring nothing but honor to their home town and county. |
