Show STEMS HERE AND THERE Picked Up About the Town and Heard Prom Over the CountyRegular Weekly Items CASTLE VALLEY IS THE BEST OF ALL J. W. Humphreys got back the first of the week from a three week's trip over the country to the north of us as a forest fire fighter for the forest service j While away he had a good many long I walks across country, a good deal of I roosting under trees during the night with the rain coming down on all sides i and sometimes in the middle, s6medeep ! i and rapid streams to wade, a great deal of smoke to breath and to smart his j eyes, but he was never in very great danger and there were some pleasant j experiences as well as serious ones. He j shows the effects of hard work and j smoke but is hale and hearty and comes : back better pleased than ever that his ' lot has been cast in Castle Valley. I He saw a great many of the far-famed irrigation enterprises of Montana and Idaho and found out the conditions under which the settlers are working and he is thoroughly decided that his home county affords better opportunities than any of the places he saw. Prices of property are lower here than elsewhere else-where for the same quality and the markets and future prospects are ahead of the conditions elsewhere. For the fruit raiser he feels sure the prospects , here are far ahead of other places and the prices of land in comparison with the prices in the fruit growing sections of Washington and Oregon are so much cheaper that this section has the advantage ad-vantage by many dollars per acre. ! Every section of country has its knockers and its boosters, and after listening to the knockers it does one good to get around and hear a genuine booster like Mr. Humphreys. All this i section needs is a connecting link between be-tween it and the thickly settled portions of the country to bring it to the front as an agricultural, horticultural, honey, dairy, oil and mining country. This link will come one of these days and then the property owner of the valley will be the first to profit, later the ones who come will build up an industrial commonwealth second to none. |
