Show Ground Broke. Yesterday morn- i ing ground was broken on the Utah ' Southern R. U., ncilr ttje 0rth-west I corner of the Old Fort block, south-, western portion of the city; and work on the line was formally inaugurated. The dedicatory prayer was offered by Elder George Q. Cannon, and ground! was broken by President Young, Pres-1 ident D. H. Wells, Hon. Wm. Jennings, Jen-nings, General Superintendent F. Little Lit-tle aud Chief Engineer Fox following. Besides the gentlemen named President Presi-dent George A. Smith and a number of prominent citizens were present. The work of letting out contracts immediately imme-diately commenced, and grading contracts con-tracts were taken for several miles. Now that the weather has set in favorably favor-ably the construction of the line will be pushed forward with rapidity. |
