Show The J. C. Penney Co. Purchases Byars and McCracken Chains Mr. J. L. Finnage, Manager of the local J. C. Penney Connpany, has received re-ceived -word that his organization has announced tho purchase of the J. B. ! Byars Company, including the W. J. Lindsay Company recently purchased by the Byars Company, and the J. N. McCracken Company; the two operating operat-ing 117 Golden Rule stores in the following states: California 6, Colorado 22, Iowa 1, Kansas 29, Missouri 1, Montana 15. Nebraska 19, North Dakota 1, Oklahoma Oklaho-ma 5, South Dakota 5, Texas 1, Wyoming Wyo-ming 12. The J. B. Byars Company composed of 101 department stores has their general office in Denver, Colorado, and purchasing office in St. Louis. The J. N. McCracken Company operates 15 stores in Montana, and one in Xorth Dakota, with headquarters headquart-ers in Livingston, Mont. These stores carry a similar line of merchandise as the J. C. Penney Company and, wi'h very few exceptions, excep-tions, are in towns not occupied by them. The J. C. Penney Company standard store fronts and regulation regula-tion fixtures will be installed. The new stores are being taken over as of January 1st, 1929, and the entire personnel will be retained as far as is possible. With the addition of these chains, the total number of J. C. Penney Co. stores is 1212. Andrew A. Pirmage of Logan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Win. Firmage, is in Montana at the present time taking over the stores in Montana for the J. C. Penney Co. |
