Show Lelii Victors Over Pleasant Grove For Runners Up Honors Lehi's hard fighting Pelicans took Alpine division runner-up honors Monday night by nosing out Pleasant Grove, 30 to 28, in a hardly fought intensely exciting playoff tussle In the Provo High School Gym. The Lehi aggregation showed sheer grit, after losing both forwards In the third quarter on personal fouls. Halliday, center, and Richards, guard, were lost to Pleasant Grove on excessive personals, which made It vital to the local team. Trane, Purple Pur-ple center, also Joined the procession to the bench just before the final gun. It was superior fighting spirit that won for the Lehi c&gers, after teamwork team-work had given them an early lead. Lehi's passing throughout the game was excellent, but they missed numerous numer-ous set-ups. Pleasant Grove, on the other hand, was unable to penetrate Lehi's defense, and most of the Grov-er Grov-er shots were scored at difficult angles. an-gles. Lee Christiansen was most of the local team. He played his usual speedy game, and scored 13 points for high honors. The other team mates played hard ball and gave Lehi a run for the title, but as it was their third loss to Lehi this season, it undoubtedly undoubted-ly proved that Lehi was "the best man." Christiansen was always the threat to Lehi's supremecy. One second before the final gun, "Lee" banked away from midfloor with a perfectly arched shot which found the hoop, hesitated, and bounded out and with it bounded P. G.'s hope for a tie score. Gray and Whitman were the outstanding out-standing Lehi performers. Gray's cool-headed handling of the ball saved sav-ed Lehi in the final quarter, and he also tossed in a couple of timely field goals at critical moments of the second half. The Score: LEHI G. T. F.
