On the 15th inst. 56 novices took the same vows, making a total of 110 within two weeks. These young women are from all pars of the country, and some from Canada. <br><br> MARSHALTOWN, Ills, 18.-The Stat Mass Convention of Infidels closes today, after a three days session. It was presided over by Mathew Farmington of Bremer County, as president, and Shorthand Harris, of the Chicago area as secretary. A number of addresses were delivered, among the most noted being by Heron C. Leland, of New York City, Mrs. Lake, of California, and W. A. Jamison, of Chicago. Gen O. A. Phelps, of Kansas speaks tonight. Subject, "The Garden of Eden." What the convention lacked in numbers it made up in enthusiasm. All the day and night meetings were held in the largest open house in the city. |
