Show PLUCKY WOMAN ' KILLS COYOTE .Mrs. John R. White killed a rabid coyote on their ranch north of Mil-ford Mil-ford a few days ago. The coyote first appeared u.1 the Hatton ranch nearby. Two boys of Mr. and Mrs. James Hatton were at the corral, the younger of the two being perched on the fence. The coyote came along snapping at the fence and trotted to the post where the little fellow was climbfng. The older boy shouted for his brother to climb higher which the lad did as the coyote stopped at the post and standing on his hind feet tried to reach the lad with his nose. Mrs. Hatton saw the. lads' plight from the house and called to them. The coyote then turned and trotted over to .the manure pile and began snapping and digging. When he finally trotted to the farther side of the barn, the mother told the boys to run to the house, which they did with considerable alacrity. The crazy animal soon started toward the White residence and Mrs. White saw-it saw-it coming and taking the gun marched march-ed out to meet the enemy. She took a shot at the beast when it arrived within shooting distance, but evidently evi-dently only a few shot stung its side as it stopped and began biting its side. Another shot tumbled the savage sav-age brute over. Having no more shells Mrs. White started to run to the house to procure more ammunition. ammuni-tion. As she turned to run she stumbled into a badger hole and had visions of being devoured by the coyote before she could scramble to licr feet and get out of danger. She. however, had apparently ruined the coyote by her second shot. As the coyote is a great beast, to "play possum" pos-sum" Mrs. White took -no further chances with him but' emptied another an-other barrel of buckshot into his anatomy. |
