Show WATER WASTING Watcrraaster Kronholm called the attention of the town board last night to the fact that the city was using water faster in a day than could be pumped to replace. Much concern was felt by the individual board members mem-bers over the prospect of a shortage of water. It will be for the best interest of the townspeople as a whole if all citizens apply discretion in the matter of using water. With conditions as they are now, the town is not able vto keep up with the water supply, and unless there be more care used, sprinkling hours will be set and maintained. main-tained. This will undoubtedly be found unsatisfactory to many. The immediate remedy is to sprinkle lawns, not to irrigate. Water has been found flowing down the streets late at night after citizens have retired re-tired and forgotten to turn off the lawn sprinklers. In some few instances, in-stances, sprinkling from a hose direct is still being done, which is a violation viola-tion of city regulations specifying that sprinkling nozzles must be used. Another waste that can be curtailed is the free use of water during the heat of the day at a time when the watering does as much harm as good. Truck, garden, and grain patches are limited in size as to the right to use city water on them also, and this if being violated. Milford's plan now is to keep working work-ing for a beautiful city. Thismeam beautiful lawns, with adorning flowers flow-ers and shrubs. In order to keep an available supply of water for these, the waste of water must be checked We will all profit if this be tlone. 0 |
