Rev, Father Day preached a very' impressive sermon on Out-Lord's Out-Lord's Ascension Into Heaven, and closed with the remark, "that we should so live as to be always prepared for the summons to appear before Almighty Al-mighty God on the last day, and to ascend as-cend with Him glorious and immortal into everlasting life." High Mass was celebrated at East Helena Sunday morning at 10 o clock ! by Rev. Father O'Farrell. Owing to ! the scarcity of priests throughout this j diocese, it has been impossible to have Mass regularly. It is to be hoped after I the Bishop's return that Mass will be ! celebrated more frequently, after the new priests arrive that are expected. ,Vl Five of the new- priests are expected to arrive within three months to assist the Bishop in taking care of the various vari-ous Parishes in this diocese. More clergy has been badly needed for some time past in Montana, and we are pleased to note that steps have been taken to secure them. Two of the new priests will come from Ireland, one from Rome, Stephen Sullivan, who has been ordained for Helena. He is a native Montanian; born, raised and received re-ceived the greater part of his education here. Father Sullivan will be warmly received and great results will be expected ex-pected from Montana's native son. understanding un-derstanding as he should the needs and requirements of the Western people. The other fathers will all be from American seminaries. m Next Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, the first communion class will receive Holy Communion at 8 o'clock Mass. All members of the first communion .class will be confirmed the same day at 3 o'clock in the afternoon by Bishop Brondel. A great many of the boys of St. Aloysius' Aloy-sius' school are hotly contesting for the different medals awarded by Father Fath-er Aken. The gold medal for good conduct and silver medal for each class room. The third prize will be for general application. John YV. GilligarfTs confined to his residence with a severe attack of pneumonia. pneu-monia. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lynch left on Tuesday for the East. They expect to b gone about four weeks. On Monday everting the Daughters of Erin No. 1 gave another of those delightful socials which are 'becoming so popular. The many friends and invited in-vited guests who attended the entertainment enter-tainment at Hlbernia Hall on the occasion oc-casion enjoyed a rare treat. There was an excellent programme of literary and musical exercises, followed by a dance. Refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. John Ducie returned home Tuesday, after a week's pleasant visit to Missoula. . -- P. A. O'Farrell of Spokane, the well known newspaper correspondent, is a visitor to Butte this week. Geoffrey Lavell of Missoula spent a few days in the city last week. Senator J. A. Browne was in Butte last week. The many friends 'of Miss Nellie Callahan, Cal-lahan, who has been East for several months, will be pleased to learn that she has returned to her ' home at the Lenox and is now much" 'improved in health.
