Show Providence Has Election Revolt. Though no great noise was made about It, an election was held in Providence, Prov-idence, on the 5th. The people got together a few davs before and named a Citizens ticket and It was generally expected that this ticket would carry by a tremendous majority, for It1 was not anticipated that any other would be put In tho field. But iho citizens counted without their host, for a large number were not satisfied with the ticket named and decided to snow It under and just as far as they desired It they did put the Citizens ticket out of business. Whop asked as to the why and wherefore of the revolt, our informant simply said: "Thero has been too much Smith In Providence." The vote stood as follows: fol-lows: Andrew M. Hammond, Ind 08 Jos. A. Smith, C 30 Conrad Alder, Ind 04 D. M.Campbell, 0 37 Edgar Tlbbots, Ind 81 J.J.Frederick, 0. 20 Wm. R. Zollinger, C 120 II, A. Theurer, 0 120 The last two had no opposition. Providence elects only a town board and tho first two named above were candidates for President ot the board. |
