Voice of rj by Joan Janes The building was filled to capacity with 215 enjoying our Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 23. After dinner we were entertained by a group of students from the Vernal Jr. High presenting a talent program they had prepared. A special thanks to these fine and talented students. Ernest Ahlborn, the Advisory Council Chairman announced plans to increase our meals to three times weekly. The meals will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning Dec. 2. Also lunch will be served at 12 noon instead of 12:30. We would appreciate your support in these changes that will take place the first week of December. Norma Willis will be supervising the Energy Assistance Program for this winter. She will begin to take applications ap-plications Dec. 2 following dinner. She will also be at the Center Monday after dinner to take applications. When applying for assistance, it will be necessary to have fuel bills from past months and also verification of income. The income guidelines for this year's program will be income not to exceed $6,630 for one person and for two $8,670. If there are any questions you can call Norma at the Social Services at 789-5850. 789-5850. The Uintah Club will be sponsoring a bazaar and bake sale Dec. 4 here at the Golden Age Center. Everyone is invited to attend and shop for some home baked and handiwork items. The sale will begin at 1 p.m. The past few weeks we have had several projects of improvement going on here at the Center. Any one who has entered en-tered the building may have noticed the carpeted steps. This outdoor carpet for three steps has been donated by Cal Sorensen, owner of Carpets by Cal. Margaret Ahlborn has written a tribute to Cal for his contribution: When age puts silver a top us, our limbs a shake here and there. Then our hearts are so full of gratitude for the kindness of those who share; Mr. Sorensen has given us carpet to put on the ramp to the door. It will prevent older feet from slipping; a monument to him evermore.
