The Uintah Utes will take on Altamont at 5:30 p.m. and Union will battle Duchesne at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Uintah Basin Tournament at Union High School. First day losers will clash Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and the championship cham-pionship game is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Union nipped Uintah's opponent, Altamont, by one point 55-54 Saturday at Altamont. The Longhorns jumped out to a 19 to 15 lead in the first quarter on ten points by Wayne Miles, five by Hansen and two by Lindsay. However, Union rallied to tie up the game at halftime 30-30 with four points by Dean Townsend and Cory Dye, three by Lynn Johns, two by Greg Bellon and one each by James White and Rick Nielson. Altamont grabbed a two point lead of 41 to 39 in the third quarter, but Union nabbed a 55-54 victory due to nine points by Townsend, three points by Bryan Snow, two points by Dye and Nielson in the fourth quarter. Hansen scored ten points in the final quarter for Altamont. Townsend was the top scorer for Union with 15 points. He popped in five field goals and hit 5 out of 8 free throws. Also scoring points for Union were Lonnie Sammaripa, 8; White, 8; Nielson, 5; Doug Allen, 4; Johnson, 3; Snow, 3 and Bellon, 2. Union fired in 20 field goals and hit 15 out of 31 free throws. Altamont's top scorer was Hansen with 18 points. Hansen popped in seven field goals and hit 4 out of 8 free throws. Wayne Miles put in 14 points and Fisher scored 11 points. Lindsay tossed in eight points. B. Miles scored two points and Roberts added one point. Altamont hit 11 out of 29 free throws. Union's junior varsity team nipped Altamont 70-68 in overtime Saturday. Union has gained both its victories in overtime. Altamont had an 18-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and increased in-creased its advantage to ten points 39-29 39-29 at the end of the second quarter. Altamont had only a one point lead of 54-53 after three quarters and the game ended in a 66-66 tie at the end of the fourth quarter. Mike Dastrup was Union's top scorer at 14 points and Mike Ross tossed in 11 points. Scott Wilson scored 11 points and Nielson tossed in eight points. Dastrup and Nielsen put in one field goal each in the overtime. Altamont's top scorers were: Roberts, 15; Brotherson, 13; Christensen, 12 and Thayne, 10. Union will take on Carbon Dec. 11 and Duchesne Dec. 18 in away games. Union will host Uintah Dec. 19. Uintah will compete in the Box Elder Tournament Tour-nament Dec. 10-12 Urn ). .
