Arrangements were made with the U.S. Postal inspector to pick up the package when it arrived, Lt. Paul noted. The package was later picked up at the Pleasant Grove Post Office by a woman and eventually delivered to an Orem address that afternoon. There they arrested Paul and Arlene Massicotte who were , charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute for value, a third degree felony, Lt. Paul noted. At the home they confiscated the three carvings which had apparently just arrived in the package, three pounds of very fine grade marijuana valued at $200 an ounce, pills believed to be amphetemines, cigarette wrappers impregnated with hash oil, 36 vials of hash oil valued at $125 a piece and several other items. The officers also confiscated several wood carvings in the home which appeared to have had the backs removed, Lt. Paul explained. The Massicotte home is a licensed day care center, Lt. Paul related. Asked how the marijuana is put into the carving, the officers offered the opinion that a piece of wood is hollowed out, the marijuana inserted and then the wood is glued together again and then carved. Sgt. Hansen of NET and members of his group, Sgt. Don Aucoin, Det. Steve Frampton, and Officer Cody Cullimore of the Pleasant Grove Police Department assisted in the investigation of this report. Lt. Paul said they planned to make more arrests in connection with the discovery of the marijuana. |
