Show Granite High School Notes Granite High School is now observing ob-serving American Education Week. The theme for this national nation-al observance is "Education for Free Men." Monday at designated hours there was a discussion of the topics "Serving War Time Needs" and "Building Strong Bodies." Bod-ies." Tuesday the topic of "Renewing "Re-newing our Faith;" Thursday, "Developing Loyal Citizens;" and Friday, "Strengthening Morals for Victory." Free men everywhere are fighting fight-ing for freedom, for their very lives, for their children, and for the free world to be; and on the home front we must maintain, too, that fight for freedom especially espec-ially for our children. To this I cause the schools of America are dedicated. Many of the young people peo-ple now in the schools will soon be directly involved in the war effort, and with these thoughts in mind, the Granite High School is lending its support to further enable those on the home front to be better prepared in order toj more ably lend their effort towards to-wards the fighting front. A survey is being carried on at the Granite High School for the purpose of getting a complete record of all graduates and form-ef form-ef Granitians who are now in the armed services. A Service Plac-que Plac-que is to be purchased on which will be engraved their names. There will also be a Memorial Placque on which will be engraved the names of those who have given giv-en their1 lives in this, the fight for freedom. Mr. Paul E. Beecher is chairman chair-man of the committee m charge of this work. The other committee commit-tee members are Cecil Bakef, Artur Lewis, and Marie Bosh. ' Reliearsals hav& begun.a-;- the Granite High School' for the annual, an-nual, school play, which will "be presented December .11. The play chosen to be presented this year is "Be Yourself.'' |
