Show Bountiful Water Contamination Is Now Eliminated BOUNTIFUL - Contamination found in culinary water in the southeast part of Bountiful has been eliminated and the water wa-ter is again free of bacteria, it was announced this week by City Water Superintendent Super-intendent Bob Carlson. HE SAID the source of contamination has been traced to a well in the area and the problem was solved by injecting massive doses of chlorination into the water at the point of contamination. "Since then, seven samplings have been taken from the water and none showed any trace of contamination." said Mr. Carlson. "However, as a precautionary measure the well at about 14(H) East 600 South has been supplied with smaller doses of chlorina tion." HE SAID the samples have been carefully careful-ly checked by the Davis County and Utah State Health Departments - as well as the federal Environmental Protection Agency -- and the water has again been given a "clean bill of health." The bacteria was found in the water during dur-ing a routine testing by the Bountiful Water Department July 16. The source was found to be in the Barton Creek Well which serves a small area of the northeast section of the city, Mr. Carlson explained. HE EMPHASIZED that at no time did the contamination reach a point that it was necessary to boil the wale; or that it was harmful to consumers. |
