Show Pioneer Gone. A. P. Raymond died at his home In Smithticld Sunday morning at tl:30 o'clock. He was aged 85 years, had lived In Cache Valley more than half of that time and was well known generally. He was a member of the Mormon battalion, a Latter-Day Saint from his early childhood and one of the staunchest supporters of the faith. His death comes at the end of a career of greatest usefulness, his life having been a strenuous one along the path of duty, and It Is said of him that he never quailed. Mr. Raymond was born In Hristol Vermont, In 1811). Became a Latter-' day Saint when but a boy an.l In a shoit timocinlgiated to Nauvoo. He married Clarlnda Cutler there and later responded to the governments call for aid in tho Mexican war. He came to Salt Lake in '47. Later his family followed and they lived In Jordan, Jor-dan, Lehl and Plain City, coming to Smithticld in 18(50. In (12 his wife died and later he married Miss Zilpha Noble, who Is left his widow. Mr. Raymond's life In Smlthlleld was very active. He built the lli-,t sawmill there and was Inteiesttd In the tiist gristmill. He was also supei intend-cnt intend-cnt of the co-op lneailydas.
