Show Ladd Gardner Promoted To Lieut Commander LAKE CITY, FLA., Nov. 14, 1944 Alton L. Gardner, of Salt Lake City, Utah, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U. S. Navy by the President of the United States on 17 October, 1944. Lieut. Cofridr. Gardner attended Delta High School and the U. S. Agricultural College, Logan, Utah. 'His father, William N. Gardner. -es in Salt Lake City, Utah. He 'M- been on active duty since 15 Jirt 1939. Lieut. Comdr. Gardner was a member of the first squadron of land based bombers in the Navy. Lavon Ellis, son oi Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ellis, is home on a short furlough. fur-lough. He has been in training at Farragut, Idaho. SGt. AC Lorin Dene Dutson and wife, the former Miss Barbara Ham-blin, Ham-blin, of Salt Lake City, have been ' home on a fifteen-day furlough visiting vis-iting his parents in Leamington, also her folks in Salt Lake City. They also spent two days in Mil-ford Mil-ford with his sister, Lois, while here. His sisters Donna and Arlene called long distance from San Francisco Fran-cisco and talked to Dene and his parents on his mother's birthday. They have returned to Maxwell Field for his advanced training as a bombabdier. Glen Harder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Harder, just returned home after having been gone for over 2 years in the South Pacific area. He and bis parents and sister. Ranee, and brother, Boyd, are having a very happy Thanksgiving get-together. He has a 30-day furlough. Pvt. John Melville is now at Madison, Mad-ison, Wisconsin, studying radar, |
