Show American Boat Reported Sunk Berlin The sinking of the steamship steam-ship Astoria nationality not given off Kavarna, Rumania, in the Black sea with the loss of twenty-two passengers passen-gers and crew is reported in a Bucharest Bu-charest dispatch to tlta Lokal Anzeiger. The only passenger to reach shore was a I -acher from Constantinople, but when he learned that his wife, three children and mother were drowned he shot and killed himself. The Bucharest Buchar-est dispatch makes no mention of the nationality of the passengers. Previous Pre-vious dispatches which came to the Paris Midi by way of Berlin reported that the Astoria was an American steamer. . Two American steamers named Astoria are listed by shipping registers. The only American vessel of that name in European waters, as shown by the records, is a steamer of 1921 tons which arrived at Liverpool on December 3 from Philadelphia. |
