JAY BURR-region champion. Fighters net region titles Vernal fighters, Jay Burr and Larry Harrison, snared top honors in the Region 17 Junior Olympic Boxing Meet, Thursday and Friday. Burr of the Vernal Boxing Club decisioned Ron Carnell of Idaho and beat Matt McDowlell of Nevada in the 12-13 year old 75 pound title match. McDowlell advanced into the title match when he beat Billy Hogan of Arizona. Harrison of the Vernal Tigers won the Junior Olympic region title in the 10-11 year old 100 pound class at the Region 17 Tournament. Harrison was unopposed.
