Show I ( Manser j Eloise Alien Parker I Phone 789-2178 J Residents travel to see newborn Allen and Mildred Mansfield traveled travel-ed to Cheyenne, Wyo. recently to visit Bishop and Mrs. Leon Mansfield and family to see their newest granddaughter grand-daughter Michelle, born in April. She is the seventh child for Leon and Gloria and the twenty seventh grandchild grand-child for Mildred and Allen. After a short lay over in Cheyenne the Allen Mansfields and the Leon Mansfields and family traveled on to Manhattan, Kansas where Leon's two oldest sons have been attending school since their parents moved to Cheyenne, Wyo. last November. They attended Kelly's High School Graduation in the Bishop Stadium. He has been active in basketball and football foot-ball and also played baseball. Todd, the oldest son attended a year at Kansas State University on a four year R.O.T.C. scholarship. He has received his mission call to Johannesburg, Johan-nesburg, South Africa. His farewell was held at Manhattan 2nd Ward on May 29, which his grandparents and parents attended. An open house in his honor was held by friends and members of the ward. Todd will enter the Mission Training Center on June 16 to learn the Afrikanas language. Gary and Linda McClellan have a new baby daughter born May 30. She weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz. and was 22" long and will be named Lauren Sue. Two year old Tyson is fascinated with his new baby sister. Grandparents are Ardith and Larry Abegglen of Vernal and Joan and Thomas Gunn of Fresno, Ca. Grandmother Grand-mother Gunn has spent the past week in Vernal helping her daughter Linda with the new arrival. She had to return to Fresno on Tuesday and back to her work as a school teacher. Frank and Veda (Merkley) Parkin of Nephi and Phebe Jane (Merkley) Hall of Fruita, Colo, spent the Memorial weekend with Clara and Morgan Merkley. They also visited their brothers Mr. and Mrs. George D. Merklev and Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Merkley. Arva (Roberts) Orman of Thousand Oaks, Ca. and Al Reta (Roberts) Walker of Orem were Memorial Weekend guests at the Claude and Barsie Hatch home. They also visited their brother Arllyn Roberts and family. These three sisters and brother are the children of the late Wayne and Rose Roberts, former Maeser residents. Heber and Grace (Hall) Kimball from Salt Lake City spent the weekend with Lynn and Eula Hall. Lynn and Heber did some fishing at Steinaker. Heber had very good luck in catching cat-ching his limit but Lynn wasn't so lucky, he only caught one. Eldon and Norma Ashby from Montrose, Mon-trose, Colo, and Glen and Avis Ashby of Upalco spent the Memorial weekend with Edna and Alton Vernon. Eldon and Glen are brothers of Edna. Flora Saunders and her daughter Carolyn Bloom of Park City spent ten days touring Southern Ca. Flora reports the country was beautiful and the weather very pleasant. Todd Parker is home from Snow College for the summer. Like all students, he is looking for a job. His plans for fall are to return to Kphnam and Snow College. Jerry and Jean Hatch and family from Lehi spent the .Memorial Weekend at the home of Boyd and Enid Hatch. A family dinner w as held Sunday, May 29. The David Hatch family and the Reid Samuels family were also at the dinner. Maeser boys attending Boys Stale at Logan will be William Rial Chew, son of Pat McRae, Kurt Roff , son of Bishop and Mrs. Ronald Roff, Steven Pease, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Pease. They are being sponsored by LeLand Van Gardner American Legion Post 124 of Jensen. Russell Ferguson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ferguson and Brad Richens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Richens will be sponsored by the Vernal American Legion Post. Johnny, Eloise and Todd Parker spend last weekend in Igan to attend Utah State University's graduation ceremonies where their daughter Rebecca received her bachelors degree in business. To conclude the day's celebration-dinner celebration-dinner was enjoyed by the family and a friend. Steven Boss at Robintinos Foundry Restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Hatch and family fami-ly of Durant. Oklahoma spent last week with Lloyd and Raema Hatch. Greg is the assistant manager of the C. R. Anthony's Department store in Durant. |
