Show NYA Training for Defense Jobs With industry nationally stepping step-ping up its efforts to a twenty-four twenty-four hour work day, the Utah National Youth Administration is anticipating an increased demand for experienced persons in private defense industry. To aid in providing skilled per-, sonnel in defense production the NYA announced today that practically prac-tically all new assignees during June would be to work experience ir. skills required urgently for defense. Included in this category are such skills as radio workshop, welding, machine shop and tool-making, tool-making, sheet-metal, spraygun operating, woodworking, electricity, electrici-ty, and building trades. No relief requirements are nec essary for NYA employment in defense work experience. To qualify, qual-ify, a youth must be an American citizen between the ages of 17 and 24. unemployed, and not eligible elig-ible for unemployment comnen-sation comnen-sation and not attending full time schools. Youth personnel is paid for part time work experience and is expected ex-pected to attend related trainiiit; courses in the vocation selected on his own time. These courses are offered through special appropriations ap-propriations to the State Department Depart-ment of Vocational Education, and are operated with the coop-ration of local schools. |
