Show Insane Patients Brutally Abused. The result of the first day's examination exami-nation by the legislative committee of affairs in the state insane asylum at Osawatomie, Kans., shows that conditions condi-tions are worse than at the Topeka asylum. The committee has issued-subpoenas issued-subpoenas for a large number of witnesses. wit-nesses. J. R. McCurdy. superintendent superintend-ent of the detached buildings of the asylum, was the main witness. He testified tes-tified that while on his rounds one day he found an attendant beating, kicking kick-ing and choking a patient, inflicting serious injuries. At another time he found one of the patients in the epileptic epi-leptic ward prostrate on the floor with an attendant stamping on him and kicking him. |
