' - . if I . t Z-Z - It's not an exact replica, but this mobile - " unit is very similar to one currently under - -; manufacture to be stationed by 2003 at Garfield Memorial Hospital as a Mobile PANGUITCH - Garfield Memorial Hospital Admini-stra-tor Eric Packer has announced the approval of a grant for $480,000 for securing a Mobile Mammography Services unit at Mammography Testing Exam Unit. The unit wasa ordered after word was received of a $480,000 grant for design of this special spe-cial women's health service acquisition. New Mobile Services For Mammography Coming To Garfield Memorial Hospital the Panguitch facility. This unit will focus on women's health issues allowing delivery of services right to the community. In between outreach out-reach services, the mobile unit will be stationed in Panguitch and provide testing locally for Garfield County and surrounding surround-ing communities. The unit would primarily serve central and southern Utah. Garfield Memorial partnered with the Utah State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control to secure these important services for residents in rural Utah. The hospital plans to take delivery of the unit, now being specially designed and built from scratch, before the end of the year. Packer and others on staff have worked closely with a facility in Denver which has taken possession of a similar unit this year, to design the very best use of space and features. They are also talking with mammography mam-mography services delivery people to see what setups and designs work the best. Packer has talked locally with owneroperator of Orton Trucking in Panguitch, Bob Orton who has advised the hospital hos-pital about the best type rig, engine, gear ratios, etc. A tentative floor plan has been formulated for the unit which would house a receptionist reception-ist area, the mammography testing test-ing services and additional space for other women's health (See HOSPITAL on page 5A) I Hospital From Front Page services which may be offered such as breast exams, pap smears, etc. Personnel are undergoing training to man the unit, which will also require a CDL-certified driver. There are still many hoops to jump through including on-site visits, paperwork and licensing, before the unit is fully accredited and on-line for use. |
