Show Ruef's Lawyer Acquitted. San Francisco. A. S. Newburgh, associate counsel for Abraham Ruef, the former political boss recently convicted con-victed of bribery, was acquitted by a jury Friday of having attempted to bribe a talesman on the Ruef jury panel. Newburgh's trial was one of the many ramifications of the bribery-graft bribery-graft prosecutions in San Francisco. He was indicted upon the charge of having tried to bribe John M. Kelly, a prospective juror, during the second trial of Ruef, to qualify for the jury and vote for the acquittal of the former for-mer political boes. |
