By DICK DUFFTN Chronicle Staff Writer Dr. Ahamed Fikry, Chairman of the Department of History at the University of Alexandria in Egypt, will present for all students stu-dents and faculty an illustrated lecture entitled, "Some Aspects of Islamic Painting," in Orson Spencer Auditorium at 8:00 tonight. to-night. Admission is free. Dr. Fikry's background is as impressive as it is diverse. He attained his higher education in France including a Ph.D. and now holds a professorship at the University of Iraq in art and architecture. HE HAS served his country as permanent chairman of the Egyptian delegation to UNESCO. He is currently in the United States on a lecture tour (including (includ-ing Indianapolis, Princeton, and Harvard) which also involved instruction in-struction of two classes in Islamic Art during summer quarter at the University of Michigan. |
