Show Library Increases Overdue Book Fines Dr. William Nash, assistant director of University Libraries, announced Tuesday an increase in fines for books overdue at University library facilities. AT THE SAME TIME the fine was increased, a new payment procedure was announced. Dr. Nash said the minimum overdue fine would be $1.00 and that it would be computed after the third overdue day. HOWEVER, HE SAID, students would have one week after the date on which their book becames overdue to pay the $1.00 fine. After that period, fines will increase. He said policies regarding non-payment of fines would remain the same basically, with grades being withheld until the fines were paid. LIBRARY ADMINISTRATORS also announced that a usage fee would be charged by the library to all those who are not students or are not directly affiliated with the University. Uni-versity. Dr. Nash said this was a standard practice at most other large universities around the country and that usage at the University library has grown to the point where the policy must be adopted here.
