Show gallery Hosts 970 Campus Jy LAWRENCE MAUERMAN Chronicle Political Editor This week the Union Art Gal-;ry Gal-;ry is playing host to the Uni-ersity Uni-ersity campus of 1970. ALL STUDENTS are invited visit the exhibit where they in follow the year-by-year de-Blopment de-Blopment of the campus from 365 to 1970, through the use of harts, graphs, and detailed lodels. One aspect of the exhibit is le proposed solution to traffic nd parking problems. The ex-ibit ex-ibit follows this problem from le present to the final solution. GRAPHS show major sources f traffic from the various areas f the city and how the proposed Dads and parking lots will solve he problem. It is interesting to ote that the majority of the new arking lots will be on the peri-heral peri-heral roads of our future cam-us. cam-us. The only parking lots to be 3und in the "interior" of the ampus will be those near the Fnion Building and OSH. Also y 1970, there will be fewer oads through the center of the ampus and traffic patterns will e highly simplified. FUTURE PLANS also show a remendous simplification of oth campus utilities, grouping hem closer together in larger 'Uildings. Center of the new campus, and ightly so, is the proposed library be located to the south of )SH. Its location is reputed to e within seven and one-half ninutes' walking distance of all he major buildings on campus. ONE OF THE highlights of he exhibit is a model of the new 'brary, depicting how the new acility will appear. The other major highlight of he exhibit is a full model of he entire campus as it will ap-ear ap-ear when completed in the 'ear, 1970. .STUDENTS would do well to isit the Union Gallery, especially especial-ly those who may still be at the "Htop school in 1970 in order 0 familiarize themselves with heir future campus. It is also vrth the trip just to make 'ourself aware of the changes hat have taken place in campus raffic patterns since last spring. |
