Show blanding column by eva R locke ligh high P priest rieste hold outing sani on friday afternoon the san juan fuan stake high priests and their 1 wives and other guests went to devil canyon for an outing plans had been made to have the outing at frosts blue mountain ranch panch but a rain storm on friday made the road impassable for travel committees in each ward ar ranged for transportation for their people forty pounds of beef steak was prepared with plenty of gravy there were 13 gallons of punch and 15 gallons of ice cream creain if anyone went home hungry it the fault of the committee after supper a fine program was presented one of the high spots of the evening was the vio lin music of joe hunt and hyrum porter mrs airs parley hurst led the group in community singing attending this outing were people special correspondent flower show held sunday the flower show sponsored by the forum and debonza clubs and held sunday afternoon was one of the highlights of f summer activities in blanding held in the amusement hall of the blanding ward chapel the flower display was most spectacular for thi this time of the year the show was for display only and over entries were made GI gladioli adiola of unusual size and coloring captured the most plaudits pl audits but the colorful zinnias kinnias zin nias dahlias kahlias dah lias marigolds and other fall flowers received a great deal of praise the flowers were arranged on long tables in the shape of an H so that they could be seen from all sides one section was devoted to seed and pod arrangements arrangement sand and included attractive bouquets made of various weeds cactus etc the flowers were held in exceptionally beautiful urns vases and bowls and were accented by delicate figurines to suit the bou some of the arrangements 7 were outstanding and caused a great deal of comment over people attended the show the committee in charge odthe of the display was composed of marian G nielson chairman florence galbraith fawn perkins maggie harvey of the forum club and ruth redd irene redd euline continued on page five blanding Contin continued urd from page one sitton and allie adams from the debonza club the committee felt that the people were su sufficiently f f interested in the flower show to establish it as a yearly activity stake primary convention i the convention for the stake primary association was h held e id on friday at moab with visitors from ithe the general primary board in salt lake in attendance in connection with the convention all past presidents of the primary I 1 were lio lionor nored cd past presidents from blanding to be honored were garda G adams and mary L adams A fine representative group from both the grayson I 1 I 1 and blanding wards received valuable instructions at the convention to help them in the coming seasons work high council visits L frank redd of the monticello ward representing the stake high council made an official visit to the grayson ward sunday evening lie ile was accompanied by miss clyda barton who has recently returned from a mission in the eastern states the talks of both mr air redd and miss aliss barton were very timely and greatly enjo enjoyed other parts on the program were talks on reverence by lavae wright and erma leo lee nielson Niel sonT Alu musical numbers were by the choir conducted by mrs airs reva redd |
