Show Society A most enjoyable social affair was tendered in honor of Fred Hinze, who has resigned his position with the local sugar company, at the Cen-terfield Cen-terfield meeting, house Wednesday evening. A host of warm friends of Mr. Hinze were present and an evening even-ing of enjoyment was had by those present. A short program consisting of an address of welcome by Chris. A. Peterson, solos by Eva Jensen and Ernest Swalberg, a reading by Miss Marva Jensen, address by H. A. Kearns and an address by Mr. Hinze, proved interesting. Games and dancing were indulged in after which ice cream and cake were served. o Mrs. Henry McKenna was hostess to a number of the members of the Royal Neighbors at her home in Cen-terfield Cen-terfield last Monday evening, the function being given in honor of Mrs. Fremont Barnes. Ten members of the lodge from Gutfhison were in attendance. at-tendance. After a short business session ses-sion of the lodge cards were played, which was followed by a delicious lunch. The announcement of the marriage of Miss Dora Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Beck of Centerfield, to Jessie D. Barlow, assistant cashier of the Clearfield State Bank at Clearfield, Clear-field, was made in Gunnison the first of the week. The marriage was solemnized sol-emnized at the Salt Lake Temple' January 7. Mrs. Barlow, before her marriage, was "a student at the University Uni-versity of Utah, and the announcement announce-ment cf her marriage was a surprise to her many friends in Gunnison and Centerfield. Mr. and Mrs. Barlow will make their home at Clearfield. The "Viro Club," composed of twelve girls of the younger set, was organized at the home of Miss Christy Chris-ty Madsen last Monday evening. The .rganization is intended for a sewing club, with additional social features. The officers are Miss Christy Mad-,en, Mad-,en, president; Ethel Jensen, vice-president; vice-president; Mabel Larson, treasurer. The first meeting of the club will be held at the home of Miss La Faun ! Frances Monday evening, January 20th. o The Bonne Foi club members were entertained at the home of Mrs. H. W. Cherry last Thursday afternoon. V pleasing feature during the working work-ing period was the reading by Mrs. R. Edwards. Mrs. Cherry served a delicious luncheon to the members of -he club. o An anniversary party, in honor of August Villard, was tendered by Mrs. Villard at her home last Tuesday evening. ev-ening. An evening of cards and so-:ial so-:ial gathering was highly enjoyed by hose present. Refreshments were iorved. Wednesday evening of this week Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Christensen were host and hostess to the members mem-bers of the Social Circle club, the meeting being the regular one where the husbands are entertained together togeth-er with the regular lady members. Five tables of Progressive Five Hundred Hun-dred was played and those present e-njoyed a social time. Mrs. Christensen Chris-tensen served a dainty lunch following follow-ing the session of cards. |
