Beach concluded his argument in favor of the admission of Tilton's testimony, aud Evarts for the defence delivered an argument against the admission. At the close of Evans' argument Judge Neilson said he would give the matter bis utmost consideration, but warned counsel that he would delivor no written opinion, but give frankly a spoken opinion on the merits of the case. The court tried, but ineffectually, ineffect-ually, to induce the counsel to go on with the case to-morrow, and meet next week half an hour earlier and sojourn half an hour later. The judge said he woul I deliver his opinion on the admissibility of TUton as a witness wit-ness immediately upon Opening court on Monday, and the court adjourned ad-journed to Monday. |
