Show UTAH FOOD SUPPLY A Statement by Utah Agricultural College and it Co-operator In view of the grave national crisis that has arisen as a result of the declaration dec-laration of a state of war, it is felt that every resource that will aid in maintaining an adequate food supply should be marshaled witli a view of making the nation as efficient as possible pos-sible and of preventing unnecessary suffering. We feel that Utah should contribute her share toward these measures of preparedness and to this end wc are working to co-ordinate every agency of the state having to do with the production and distribution distribu-tion of food products. This action is taken in response to a call from the Secretary of Agriculture Agri-culture and other Departments of the Government Wc feel that assistance can be rendered ren-dered in two ways: (a) Stimulating increased production of the common foods, and (b) Aiding in a more effective distribution of available food products. The following suggestions arc offered of-fered : A. Increase Production. 1. To extend the acreage of crops through bringing into cultivation new lands. 2. To stimulate production through campaigns for better cultural practices prac-tices such as seed selection and treatment, treat-ment, spraying of crops, etc. 3. To increase the production of livestock and livestock products, especially es-pecially swine and poultry. 4.
