Show WOMEN HAVE GREAT OPPOR-TUN OPPOR-TUN IT Y TO HELP. o Suggestions offered by Home Economics Econ-omics Expert. The following suggestions, offered by Miss Gertrude McChcyne, expert in home economics, Extension Division, Div-ision, Utah Agricultural College, should point the way to .those loyal women who wish to aid their fathers, husbands, and brothers in the great agricultural preparedness movement that is sweeping the Nation. Says Miss McChcyne: Conservation or economy committees com-mittees of women should be formed in every town and village of Utah. Women's sections should also be incorporated in-corporated in the Farm Bureaus. Those committees should, aid in: 1. Increasing the interest in poultry on the farm. A fargrcatcr egg production pro-duction is possible in the West and this is one place where the energy of the women is needed. More eggs should be stored for future use. 2. Fruits, meats, and vegetables must be canned in abundance during the coming summer. Windfalls must be used. Co-operative or community canning is advisable. Many wild fruits should be utilized. The boy's and girls' clubs can well aid in the gathering of these wild fruits. 3. The renovation and remodeling of clothing should be seriously considered. con-sidered. I. Home made firclcss cookers should be put in use. They enable the use of cheaper cuts of meats and save in the use of fuel. Instructions for making them will be furnished by the Extension Division of the Utah Agricultural College upon application. applica-tion. 5. Red Cross circles should be formed. 6. A good woman supervisor is needed in every county to direct the work of the women. |
