Mike Stevens, avid Salt Lake golfer, shared his thoughts while playing the course for the first time."I think this is easily the best course in the state of Utah and I can see it hosting a PGA event sometime in the future." Phil Sutterfield, from Park City, added. This course, for being the first day, is in excellent condition. In a few years, it will be spectacular. It's very challenging and is probably one of the finest courses in the i1-- golfers, playing the 18 holes, were also very excited about the new golfing opportunities and plan on regularly improving their skills there. Johnny Miller, golf course designer at Thanksgiving Point, comments ed, "In my years as a golfer, I've had many opportunities to experience great golf courses. The Golf Course at Thanksgiving Point ranks among the very best. Not only because of the quality and beauty of the course and the challenge it presents, but also because of the great atmosphere at Thanksgiving Point. This is truly a unique golf experience. It's a designer's dream, and I'm really excited to be a part of it." owner Alan Ashton. of 0 ...'" ... ', . vehicle after he observed a car Jatiwi usv.u listed as stolen. When the car came to a stop, the driver exited the vehicle and took off on foot. The officer then discovered that two passengers remained in the vehicle. When he interrogated the two, one of the passengers gave the officer the name of the driver but could not remember his telephone number. Further investigation led the officer to determine that the name was not the driver's correct identity. The passenger was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of with arrest for giving possession of stolen property and interfering the officer a false name for the driver of the vehicle. Various items total about $1,000 were taken from a Lehi residence while the owners were away. The woman of the house said the doors were locked and believes that the unknown suspect gained entry through a window. The case is still under investigation. A Pleasant Grove man was booked into the county jail for domestic violence abuse after allegedly assaulting a female acquaintance. The two had been drinking and stopped at an area commuter lot because she could not continue driving. The man then started hitting her repeatedly. The two continued driving to his parents' home, after which the woman went to her own mother's house, then to American Fork Hospital for treatment. f In two separate incidents, three Lehi men were jailed for outstanding warrants. One man gave a false name and was found to have several warrants, including a Federal one for drug charges; the second man in the same incident had one warrant from Lehi City and two from Salt Lake City. The third had a felony warrant from Provo City. I All " . First, golf promotes physical fitness, and second, the golf facility provides another opportunity for instruction, learning, and self improvement." The course, designed to be challenging but forgiving, gets progressively more difficult as the game progresses. Miller added, 'The final three holes may be the most chal Circus returns to Lehi lenging finishing holes anywhere." John Miller Jr., Director of golf operations at Thanksgiving Point, described the landscaping, Ten thousand trees line the fairways. We've outlined every hole with redwood bark chips and planted a variety of ground covers, flowers, and shrubs. With five tee areas on each hole and plenty of room off the tees, this course has a little bit of everything." Another summer tradition will close on the heels of the Roundup as the Lehi Chamber of Commerce once again sponsors the g Carson and Barnes Circus. In addition to providing quality family entertainment in the area, the circus also serves as a fundraiser for both the Chamber of Commerce and elementary schools in Lehi. All tickets sold prior to the arrival of the circus will earn money for the organizations that sell tickets. Students in the elementary schools were given a letter to be taken to the ticket outlets at the time of purchase of their tickets; proceeds from those sales will be returned to the local schools. Other funds raised by the circus will provide operating funds for the Chamber of Commerce, which, in addition to fostering business in Lehi and serving the needs of the business owners, allows for civic activities such as the Easter Egg Hunt, the Halloween Parade and the Christmas giveaways. The circus features five rings, with approximately 20 elephants, 100 exotic and domestic animals and 100 artists from the United States, Mexico, China, Peru, Argentina, Italy and other parts of the world. Continued from front page classes at Pasadena Community College and Salt Lake Community College. While in Utah, she met her husband, Jeff, who was playing in a band. The couple moved to Tucson, Ariz., and while there, she earned an associated degree in commercial advertising art from the Art Center of Tucson. Later, she studied business and marketing at Pima Community College to be able to sell her art work. Although she had tried various art forms as a child, and she had to use different media in order to complete school assignments, she realized that she preferred to work with watercolor, not only because 'It's not without frustration, though" she said of the techniques one has to learn to work in that medium. She wanted to join the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, particularly to be able to take advantage of workshops and classes offered to the organization's members. In order to become a member, an artist's work must be juried in, that is, voted on by a panel of judges; she was admitted with her first works. Since then, she has also won awards from the guild, and has the state. If all goes well, she hopes to receive a grant that will enable her to attend a workshop in San attained the signature status, the Miguel, Mexico, which will be noted artist and art educator Jim Kosvanec, whom she said "knows the science of watercolor as well as the art."
