Show The Daily Utah Chronicle, Monday, October 14, 185 , Page Seven EDITORIAL Retaliation is good way to take a bite terrorism of States outUnited taken has finally charge by proving that it's "bite" against terrorists is just as fearsome as its "bark. The United States took a bite out ofterrorism when it intercepted four Palestinians while in flight. Italy is charging the foursome with hijacking an Italian cruise ship, the premed- The itated murder of an American traveler, kidnapping and possession of arms. The U.S. Navy and its ultimate commander Ronald Reagan gave a commendable show in swiftly nabbing the hostages in the chartered Egyptian jetliner without having to shed any blood. Because the four took an Italian ship in Italian waters, Italy will be responsible for prosecuting them. How they will be prosecuted is not yet known, but Italian Prime Minister Bettino Craxi has assured Reagan and the United States that the foursome "will be assured justice." Over the weekend, however it was learned that one of the four was released by the Italian authorities and is currently in Yugoslavia. Critics should think twice before terming the interception as "unorthodox." Hijacking and murder aren't the most orthodox ways of making a point. Reagan and company handled the raid civilly and without bloodshed. If those ways are "unorthodox' then so be it. Obviously, "orthodox" methods of fighting terrorism aren t working. Editor: was I am writing in response to the ad by ASUU President Ned Stringham, which appeared in the Chronicle, Oct. 7. 1 contend that the ad about the new computer fees was misleading in its analysis of the final vote taken by the ASUU Assembly. Many of the representatives did not hear the call for consensus on the resolution, and therefore made no objection. During the debate numerous attempts were made to amend the resolution.
