Students interested in alternatives might consider doing an internship. The Hinckley Institute offers various internships in Salt Lake Gty and Washington, DC Internships are available in Salt Lake City with the Utah Legislature, the governor's office and different city offices. In Washington, D.C, students can serve internships with Utah senators, congressmen and different Senate committees. Although length varies, most internStudents perform ships are quarter-lon- g. diverse tasks, such as research, writing and attending briefings. A paper is usually required for the internship which gives a student three to five hours of college credit. Red Grooms, Washington, D.C Students participate in lectures, panel discussions, debates and briefings. Speakers at the lectures include members of Congress, White House and State Department staff, national news correspondents, foreign diplomats, Pentagon officials, and business and financial executives from both the domestic and international sectors. The deadline for application for Winterim is November.
