Show Fifty Publishers Take 'Air Tour' ToUiewOi! Potential in Utah BY CLAIR KING The average Utahn does not' realize the great oil potential in' this state. It was brought vividly1 . to the minds of about fifty publishers pub-lishers throughout the state when Carter Oil Company asked these publishers to be their guests on an air tour of the oil fields in the four corners area of southeastern Utah. The four corners area comprises com-prises the corners of the states of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. j The Carter Oil representatives explained the vast amount of re-j search and exploration that has to precede the successful development develop-ment of an oil field. This project entails millions of dollars from the oil companies of the world. Carter, oil has already spent over 29 million dollars for exploration and development and the other major companies have spent like amounts. The ultimate result will be the enrichment of our state by millions in new businesses, etc. This trip was kicked off by a dinner at the Hotel Utah on the evening of Oct. 31 to brief the guests on the aims, problems, costs and difficulties of a major undertaking such as this, and also al-so the itineriary of the flight to show the actual operation in the oil fields as seen from the air. Two Chartered Planes The next morning breakfast was served at the Hotel Utah and the plane assignments were made and the group was taken to the airport I in buses and the planes were I scheduled for departure at 7:30 but were delayed until 8:10. There were two chartered Frontier planes and a Carter oil plane. The South East Independent was assigned to Frontier plane no. .2. We had a very congenial group and I felt that Sugar House and the South East area were very much honored for the pilot (Matthew (Mat-thew Ferguson) informed us that he was raised in Sugar House and it was always very close to his heart and we were also pleasantly pleas-antly surprised on meeting the stewardess (CarolRobertson) that she is presently liting in Sugar House. So you see the guests were all very well taken care of. On leaving the airport we flew over Suar House and uo Parlevs t rT TF1 F0UR C0RNERS OIL PROVINCE rtKy- (' 1 - BAS,NS f J t . ...
