Show FOUNDERS DAY ATTRACTS THRONGS TO WELLSVILLE Wellsville Lauding the early pioneers of Cache county, and especially Wellsville, Alma Sonne, cashier of the First National bank of Logan, Monday congratulated the people of this community for celebrating each year the founding of this town, the first in Cache county. Mr. Sonne told of the hardships and experiences the early settlers of this region had. The public meeting was held in the Wellsville LJD.S. tabernacle and the program was as follows: Invocation, John Wyatt; selection, selec-tion, Singing Mothers of Wellsville Wells-ville LJJ.S. Second ward; presentation presen-tation of characters of early settlers set-tlers of Wellsville, Mayor W. O. Christensen; instrumental music, Lyndon Leatham and company; address, Mr. Sonne; selection, by Singing Mothers; benediction by Thomas A. Kerr. Prior to the meeting a pioneer J parade was held which thousands of Cache county people lined the streets to watch. The entire parade par-ade depicted the early settling of this town and charactes irn the parade were dressed as pioneers; pshing handcarts and driving teams. The bands from the North and South Cache high schools gave concerts before the parade, and aso were in the line of march. Early troubles with the Indians wer recalled at the city park immediately im-mediately following the parade with a sham battle between characters char-acters representing the early settlers set-tlers and Indians. The celebration officially opened Sunday at midnight, when a dance was sponsored by the American Legion, which also had charge of the firing of the daybreak salute. |
