The Chinese foreign for-eign office has returned to the Italian charge d'affairs, Marquis Salvage Rog-go, Rog-go, his dispatch containing the demand de-mand of the Italian government for a lease on San Mun bay, on the same conditions as those under which Germany Ger-many holds Kia Chou bay, accompanying accompany-ing it with a letter declaring that the Chinese government is unable to grant the request. The demand of the Italian government govern-ment for a ninety-nine year lease of San Mun bay, province of Che-kang, as a coaling station and naval base, included in-cluded also a demand for the cession of three islands off the coast of Che-kang, Che-kang, with the right to construct a railroad from San Mun bay to Po-yang lake and to preferential railroad and mining privileges within a sphere of influence, covering the southern two-thirds two-thirds of Che-kang province. |
