Show NO PRISONERS OF WAR. Afriilnaldo Holds Throe Americans, and lie Picked Them Up at Cavite. Washington, March 5. The following follow-ing dispatch has been received by Secretary Sec-retary of War Alger in answer to his inquiry respecting the number of American prisoners held by the insurgents: insur-gents: "Manila, March 3. Secretary of War, Washington:--Insurgents have not taken, nor do they hold a single prisoner of war. They have three soldiers sol-diers in Manila, picked up in January, who, without permission, went among thera near Cavite and Calocan. I am looking after them and providing money. Have captured over 1,500 insurgent in-surgent soldiers since February 4, and hold the majority as prisoners of war. Detrimental reports which reach the United States are manufacturedmostly in Hongkong. Troops here in splendid condition. Otis." |
