Show 'Pledge of Medication can be signed at Herald office I WT The Bicentennial Wagon Train Pilgrimage will begin in California and continue on to Pennsylvania, where the Bicentennial celebration for the United States is being celebrated. Each state has a wagon and it is pulled through its own state to meet the wagon from the neighboring neigh-boring state. There will be out riders with each wagon. All the wagons will go as far as Kansas this year, then next American Party plans for dinner The American Party of Utah County today announced plans for their patriotic fund raising dinner to be held Friday, July 18th. Dinner Chairman Orval Harmer expressed his pleasure at having Cleon Skousen, founder of the Freemen Institute, In-stitute, as main speaker. Mr. Skousen indicated that he will discuss the status of free enterprise en-terprise in the United States today. Master of Ceremonies will be Austin Belnap, popular Salt Lake conservative and leader of the successful land use petition drive last year. Tickets' are available from many members of the American Party in Utah County. In the north end of the county call Delmar Reay at 785-3369. In other areas call Kaye Jensen in Orem at 225-1142, Will Christensen in Provo at 375-8833 or Orval Harmer in Springville at 489-5064. Tickets may be purchased in the south part of the county from Larry Lilly at 798-8239 in Spanish Fork. The price for this prime rib dinner is $5.00 per plate. Entertainment will include a patriotic medley by the well-known Mussettes of Springville. Larry Lilly, County Chairman of the Party, confirmed con-firmed the good fortune of the party in getting Mr. Skousen to speak on this occasion. "As the Constitutional Seminars conducted con-ducted by the Freemen Institute become more popular throughout the western states it is more and more difficult for Mr. Skousen to find time for other activities. I have personally per-sonally attended these classes and can understand why they are so much in demand". Since there are only 500 tickets available interested persons are urged to make their plans to attend immediately. Spring they will begin their journey on to Pennsylvania. The wagons are horse drawn. The Utah wagon will meet the Nevada wagon on the Nevada border and will travel to meet the Wyoming wagon. In commemoration of the bicentennial and in conjunction with the wagon train trek, people are asked to come into the Herald office and sign a Pledge of Rededication Scroll. The scroll says: "To commemorate com-memorate this nation's bicentennial bicen-tennial we hereby dedicate ourselves anew to the precepts of our Founding Fathers: . . We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among , these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness... . " These scrolls will be stored for a certain number of years then brought out in, future years and the names read. A special invitation has been extended to the Maybr and City Council members to sign the rededication pledge. Robert Larabee now in Montana The son of a Springville, Utah, couple has been assigned to Malmstrom AFB, Mont., for duty with a unit of the Aerospace Defense Command. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Robert F. Larabee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Larabee of 330 North 200 East, is an administrative superintendent superin-tendent with the 24th Air Defense Squadron. Previously assigned to an Air Force unit in Rome, Italy, he is a 1956 graduate of Springville High School. His wife, Ila Kay, is the daughter of Mrs. Zelma Halladay of 146 South 700 West, Provo, Utah. As of June 30, the Utah State Department of Agriculture is no longer accepting coyote or bobcats for payment of bounty. The action is in accordance with the State Agricultural and Wildlife Damage Prevention Board which decided not to reinstate the current bounty program. The board has decided to "concentrate on other cpntrol methods similar to what other states are doing, including the use of chemical toxicants," according to Commissioner Joe Francis. The Human Relations and Cultural Enrichment Committees Com-mittees of the Community Progress program have a challenging assignment. Their responsibilities will be to coordinate efforts among various organized groups and knowledgeable citizens to achieve the maximum over-all community progress during the next two years in the following areas of concern: The arts including in-cluding music, drama,, dance, visual arts such as photography and film making, poetry, sculpture, weaving and other related hobbies and crafts, history with extensive suggestions for preserving our heritage, library facilities and service, parks and recreation and the senior citizens program. Springville has a unique and valuable history in many of these catagories with the Museum of Art and its priceless collection of paintings and art works and the impact it has for cultural uplift on those who participate either as exhibitors or patrons, the pioneer museum rich in historical relics and memorabilia, a large library with an efficient and . capable staff which strives to serve the community's varied age groups and interests, a well-developed recreational program with numerous areas for golfing, ball playing, rodeos, tennis and other physical activities, and a senior citizen program which is recognized throughout the western states for . its highly honoring and encouraging those programs and activities that will be for the uplift and enrichment of those who live, and work and play in Springville and which can make a permanent contribution con-tribution for good in our lives. Annual Blackhawk Encampment held in Lehi June 23 The annual BlackHawk Encampment En-campment was held at Wines Park, in Lehi, Utah last week, June 23 through June 27. About 80 campers and trailers assembled at the park, and a good time was enjoyed by all who attended. There were 15 programs presented during the week, many of the nearby towns being represented on the program. Two new features were added this year, as follows: 1. We had an American Fork Day, when American Fork presented morning, afternoon and evening programs. 2. We had a tent which held a display of many old pictures of former Black Hawk Encampments. En-campments. This proved to be of interest to many. The BlackHawk organization dates back to about 1894, when a group of veterans from the Black Hawk War got together and visited and recalled their experiences in the war. Kay Bendixsen, Utah State University Extension Administrator, Ad-ministrator, and Joseph Jacobs, manager of Producers Livestock Association, were both honored with Master Stockman pins in recognition for years of agricultural service in fostering "Grand Champion Youth."
