Show DEATH CLAIMS J. A. REYNOLDS Joseph Alonzo Reynolds, 77, retired re-tired business man and prominent L. D. S. church worker of this community, died Sunday, following follow-ing several months illness, at the family residence, South Second East street. Born in Springville, February 2, 1858, Mr. Reynolds had lived here always. He was the eldest son of Joseph D. and Elizabeth Taylor Reynolds, early Utah pioneers. During his early life, Mr. Reynolds Rey-nolds engaged in retail mercantile mercan-tile business :n Uiis city, being associated with his brother H. T. Reynolds. He retired several years ago. For a number of years he served as counselor to Bishop George R. Hill in the Third ward. He was ward clerk for 12 years and also served as counselor to the Kolob stake high priests quorum. quor-um. He married Lorenda Tew, January Jan-uary 1, 1880 in the Salt Lake Endowment En-dowment house. After her death he married Martha Whittaker Man-waring, Man-waring, in the Salt Lake Temple in June, 1892. She died in June of this year. Surviving are the following children, Mrs. J. S. Winficld, South Gate, Calif.; Joseph A. Reynolds Jr.,- San Francisco, Calif. Reed Reynolds, Los Angeles, Calif. Jesse Reynolds, Tillimook, Ore.; Mrs. Elizabeth Miner, Springville, all by his first marriage; Mrs. Martha Brimhall, Mrs. May Mar-tell, Mar-tell, Morris D. Reynolds, Springville; Spring-ville; Dr. Frank T. Reynolds, and Mrs. Rachel Gardner, Provo by the second marriage; two stepsons, step-sons, J. H. Manwaring, Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif.; Lorus Manwaring, Salt Lake City; 26 grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Mrs. Martha J. Alleman, C. A., and J. O. Reynolds, Springville; John Reynolds, Salt lake City; A. W. Reynolds, Los Angeles, Calif.; 7 half brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mart Alexander, Arch and Ed Reynolds, Springville; George Reynolds, Los Angeles, ' Calif.; Mrs. Emma Pace, Thistle; Mrs. Velma Hanson, Idah Falls, Ida. Mark Reynolds, Provo. Funeral services were held Wednesday, at 2 p. m., in the Third ward chapel with burial in the City cemetery, under the direction of A. Y. Wheeler mortuary. |
