Show Among the interesting wedding announcements of the past week is that of Miss Mary Childs to ; Marion J. Giles which took place November 22 in Los Angeles, Cal. The bride, a former resident of ' this city, is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Childs. Mr. Giles is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Giles, formerly of Salt Lake City, and a, grandson of Professor H. E. Giles, Salt Lake tabernacle choir organist. The wedding took place at the home of the groom's sister, Mrs. Jay Grant, ' with Bishop West of the Adams ward officiating. Following the ceremony a reception was given, at which about forty close relatives rela-tives and friends attended. Mrs. G. L. Beardall of this city, went to Los Angeles especially to attend the affair. Miss Louise McPhie of Salt Lake City was bridesmaid at the wedding and Wallace Giles, brother of the groom, was best man. In the dining room and other entertaining rooms were poinsettas, chrysanthemums and ? rosebuds. A gorgeous lace cover covered the dining table which also : held a centerpiece of pink rose ' buds. The bridal bouquet was of rose buds and gardenias, and gar's gar-'s denia corsages were presented each of the nearest relatives at ; the wedding. The young couple plan to make their home in Los Angeles. 4 Mr. and Mrs. Micheal Long and children of this city were guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Daniels of Salt Lake City at dinner on Thanksgiving day. Mrs. Sarah White of Spanish Fork spent several days of the past week with her sisters, Mrs. I Courtland Starr, Mrs. A. O. Childs and Mrs. Jennie Starr and families in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hales enter-i enter-i tained at dinner at their home Sunday in honor of Mrs. Hales' brother, J. Milton Groesbeck, Jr., and their son Robert D. Hales whose birthdays occurred that tveek. Mr. and Mrs. Groesbeck, Mrs. J. M. Groesbeck and mem- : bers of the Hales family were quests. I . Mr. and Mrs. J. X. Gardner and i 'on spent several days, including Thanksgiving, at the home of Mr. j Gardner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Gardner, and other relatives in Delta. A family dinner was given Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird. Covers were laid at one long table for 24 relatives,, including Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird and families. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Dougall of this city went to Los Angeles, Cal., to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with their daughter, Mrs. Wyman Wills and family. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Robison and daughter of Lehi were guests Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Dougall. ' Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Clyde and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Clyde went , to Logan for Thanksgiving day dinner, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Clyde. Miss Betty Cranmer entertained 1 a number of friends at her home I Tuesday, the occasion being her thirteenth birthday. At lunch the guests were seated at one table which hela a pretty birthday cake with candles as a centerpiece. Tiny dolls were given as favors. The group were also entertained with games. In attendance were Venice Ven-ice Pennington, Emily Paxman, Mern Brereton, Lois Fullmer, Dixie Gabbitas, Bonnie Scott, Helen Huntington, Lyman Roth-well, Roth-well, Norma Smith, Richard Reynolds Reyn-olds and Donald Slater. Mr. and Mrs. John Jansen and two children of Ogden spent the past week end with Mrs. A. O. Childs and family in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Max Packard entertained en-tertained at supper at their home Tuesday night for Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. Elden Palfreyman. Following supper cards were enjoyed with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart receiving high score prize. Mrs. G. D. Kennedy and son Keith and daughter Glenna, spent several days of the past week with Mr. Kennedy at Price, the latter being employed in a drug store there. Mr. and Mrs. Eastham Clegg entertained at a family dinner at their home Thursday, with Mrs. Virgil Stubbs and son Richard of Ogden, and Miss Gale Kennedy as special guests. Mr. and Mrs. Orman Weight and family, came from Hurricane to spend Thanksgiving holidays with relatives and friends here. They were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Weight and family. Other special guests at the dinner were Miss Edna Kennedy and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Oakley. |
