Show Fourth of July Sports. The Sports Committee for the Fourth of July contemplate giving something new for this year. Arrangements are being made for a general contest in athletics between the North and the South Ecclesiastical wards. The following is a list of the events: Tug of war, Basket Ball, 50 yd. dash, 100 yd. dash, Relay race. Three boy's races. Entries for No. 1 must be 10 years old and under; No. 2, 14 years and under; No. 3, 16 years and under. Three girl's races. (Same conditions condi-tions as for the boy's races.) Men's race. No. 1, Entries must be from 40 to 60 years old. No. 2, Entries must be from 60 to 90 years old. Ladies race, free to all. Two from each ward will be entered in each of the races. Five points will be given to the side winning first place . and three points to the winner of the second place. The winners of the tug of war and the basket ball contests will score teti points each. The ward securing the most points will be the winner. Every one entering enter-ing will be selected before the day arrives, and the committee will endeavor to carry out the program with promptness. Seats will be provided and the contesting grounds kept clear so that all may witness the events. Several boxing contests are also being arranged. |
