Show Funeral of a Pioneer To the Editor of THE HERALD Funeral services over the remains of Father Ludington of Sugar Honse who died at the ripe old age of 86 years were held in the Sucar House ward house yesterday yes-terday at 11 am Bros S W Richards Oliver G Workman and James Johnston were the speakers each dwelling upon the integrity and busy life that marked his eventful career Father Ludington was an early pioneer to Utah and a member mem-ber of the Mormon Battalion He spent many years as a missionary in the East Indies and among the Chinese and was the first marshal ever elected in Salt Lake His entire life has been a busy and exemplary ex-emplary one honest in his dealings and true to his friends many of whom paid due reverence to his memory by being present at the last sad rites of this good and worthy man Requiescat in pace W C A SMOOT JR SUGAE HOUSE |
